Meet Our Staff!

Since 2013, undergraduates at the University of Colorado Boulder have worked to put together gorgeous annual print collections of creative nonfiction. Each semester brings new faces; meet them below! 

Staff: Spring 2024

Cade Yoshioka (He/Him)

Cade Yoshioka (He/Him)

Editor-in-Chief

Cade Yoshioka (he/him/his) is a Senior at CU Boulder majoring in English Literature and Creative Writing while pursuing a certificate in writing. This is his second semester as a journal staff member and first semester as Editor-in-Chief. Outside of class, Cade can typically be found listening to music with at least one earbud in, writing poetry, or watching The Office for the fourteenth time.

Managing Editor For Online

Liam Downey (he/him) is the Online Managing Editor for Hindsight. He is a Senior in the College of Arts & Sciences as a Psychology major at CU Boulder. This is his fourth semester in the journal, and he is excited to continue his work in the editorial department. He hopes to help make the journal the best it could be. Liam recommends “To: Emma” from Hindsight Vol. 3 and the online exclusive “Shopping List”.

Jordyn Raftery (She/Her)

Assistant Business Manager

Jordyn Raftery (she/her) is a senior at CU Boulder majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business. This is her second semester on the journal staff! Outside the classroom, Jordyn can be found skiing extreme terrain and going to the beach.

Finn Cruit (He/Him)

Finn Cruit (He/Him)

Assistant Manager For Online

Finn Cruit (he/him) primarily serves as an editor at Hindsight. Finn is a Music Major studying Viola Performance at CU Boulder and is also getting a Minor in Writing and Public Engagement. This is his third semester on staff, and he is excited to help out! When not practicing his instrument, he likes reading, watching movies, playing board and video games, and drinking all manner of caffeinated beverages. Finn recommends “Death Without a Soul and

Emily Calvert

Managing Editor For Print

Emily Calvert is the Managing Editor of Hindsight. This is her third semester with Hindsight. She is a junior double majoring in English Literature and Secondary Education. She enjoys energy drinks, procrastinating, and her cat. Emily recommends “Home Blend” by Rachel Lysaght from Hindsight Vol. III.

Clara Gauthier

Clara Gauthier (she/her) is a senior English Literature Analysis major and this is her first semester with the journal. When she’s not working on the journal or other classwork, she can be found crocheting, reading gothic-lit haunted house books, or playing Stardew Valley with her cat, Lola. Clara recommends “To:Emma” and “You’re a Man and I’m Your Watcher.”

Angelina Kondrat

Angelina Kondrat (she/her) is a sophomore studying journalism and environmental science. This is her second semester at the journal and first semester as assistant editor-in-chief. In her free time she loves to run, ski, and try new restaurants or coffee shops. Angelina recommends Marine Murderer by Nancy Whitecross.

Ethan Geiger

Ethan Geiger

A/V Director

Ethan Geiger is a writer, director, and cinematographer from Boulder focusing on documentaries and short films. He has a BFA in film production from the University of Colorado, has played in four film festivals and his films have won best documentary (Falling Star Reality, 2023,) and best student film (Dr. Milksop, 2023) at multiple festivals. Ethan is also a published flash fiction writer in MacQueen's Quinterly. This is his fourth semester on Hindsight staff.

Ren Hotzfeld (they/he/she)

Art Director

Ren Hotzfeld is the Art Director for Hindsight. They are a junior studying Psychology with a minor in English at CU Boulder. This semester is their first working with the journal and they couldn't be more excited. In their free time, they enjoy drawing, listening to music, and have recently gotten into crocheting. They are pictured with their late cat, Cosmo, their baby boy & entire world.

Ines Durant (She/Her)

Ines Durant (she/her) is a Senior majoring in Integrative Physiology. This is her second semester as a journal staff member. Outside of school, she enjoys baking, reading and spending time outdoors skiing and hiking.

Wyatt Humble

Wyatt Humble (he/him) is a sophomore studying Creative Writing and Strategic Communications. This is his second semester with the journal, and he is excited for the many years to come. When he has the time he’s usually reading or planning out the next DnD session. Wyatt recommends To Walk In The World by Quentin Parker in Hindsight Volume 3.

Issy Berman (she/her) is a junior studying English. This is her first semester with the journal and she is so glad to be a part of it! When she isn’t working or studying you can find her at the gym, trying new foods, writing, or listening to music. She recommends “Shopping List” by Jordan Egelman exclusively on hindsight.org

Managing Editor for Print

Sebastian Melancon (he/him) is a Junior at CU Boulder majoring in Physics and English Literature and is pursuing minors in music, math, leadership, and a certificate in writing provided through the Program for Writing and Rhetoric. This is his Second semester on journal staff as the managing editor for Changing skies. Outside of school, Sebastian can be found in various music practice halls, walking around at night bumpin’ to jams, and sleeping in public spaces.

Business Manager

Navan Chauhan (he/him) is a Junior studying Mathematics and Computer Science. This is his third semester on the journal staff and second semester as the Business Manager. When not trying to rip all of his hair out studying, he can be found outside trying to find creative ways to get injured.

Michaela Molaro (She/Her)

Assistant Managing Editor for Print

Michaela Molaro (she/her) is a sophomore at CU majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She is an editor for Hindsight and this is her second semester with the journal. When she’s not in the classroom, Michaela can be found writing or watching a new movie.
Michaela’s recommended piece is “Liner Notes From A Trans Kid” by Jaq Brody from Hindsight VoIume I.

Anne Menchu

Anne-Marie Menchu (she/her) is a senior studying English Literature. This is her second semester as a journal staff member. Her end goal is to go into publishing as well as becoming an author. She is excited to gain first-hand experience in working with our editorial and marketing team. Outside of school, you can find her at any bookstore spending money on books as if she doesn’t have any at home to still read.

Elise Martin (she/they/he) is an editorial intern for Hindsight. They are a sophomore in the College of Arts & Sciences as an English Creative Writing major at CU Boulder. This is their second semester at the journal and they are very excited to continue working on it. They enjoy writing, making art, and anything else creative, and are frequently found roller skating. Reiley Robinson-Edmands

Reiley Robinson-Edmands (he/him) is a senior studying English Literature and Classics at CU Boulder, with aspirations to teach in the near future. This is his first semester working with the journal. Outside of school, he enjoys working with dogs, reading scary stories, or playing video games. Reiley recommends “A Sour Sour Orange” by Phia Elsass from Hindsight Vol. 4.

Hindsight strives to highlight voices from all walks of life by publishing creative nonfiction in all its forms. We aim to foster a diverse range of contributors and their distinctive content. Anything from poetry to memoir to comics is considered for our annual print publication each spring, all through blind review, and all creative nonfiction. With submissions open year round, authors and artists have the opportunity to be published in our print journal and growing online platform.
